Haydn – Symphony No. 6 “Le Matin”

The contemporary meets the classical with Balada combining the energy of New York with the perfection of Mozart. Next, Bruch’s intimate Double concerto featuring the TBSO’s own E-Chen Hsu & Patrick Horn. The program culminates with two of Haydn’s earliest symphonies, written as part of a trio representing the times of the day.

A powerful concert that amplifies Indigenous voices and stories through music.

The TBSO is thrilled to welcome back Nick Sherman to the stage. Nick Sherman is a singer-songwriter based in Thunder Bay, ON, with deep roots in North Caribou Lake First Nation. Over the past 15 years, he has built a powerful career in music and storytelling, releasing three full-length albums — Drag Your Words Through, Knives & Wildrice, and Made Of. His honest songwriting and commanding voice have taken him across the country, performing on stages at Ottawa Bluesfest, Calgary Folk Festival, Vancouver Folk Festival, Luminato Festival in Toronto, and many more.

Canadian saxophonist and vocalist Aaron MacDonald brings a high-energy night of blues, pop, Latin, and timeless standards to the stage, featuring music by Michael Bublé, Nat King Cole, Sting, Neil Young, and more. A member of The Jitterbugs and long-time performer with Jeans ‘n Classics, Aaron has appeared with symphony orchestras across North America. After 14 years touring with Roger Hodgson of Supertramp, he now takes centre stage in a dynamic showcase of his talents as both a charismatic vocalist and world-class saxophonist.

A poignant program woven around themes of unity and optimism. Led by interim Music Director, Evan Mitchell, this concert opens with Ravel’s “Tombeau de Couperin”, a piece dedicated to a friend lost in the first World War. Beethoven’s infectiously joyful “Symphony No.2” and Canadian composer John Estacio’s “The Houses Stand Not Far Apart”, a deeply moving ode to peace, round out this final concert in the Voices series.
