Kats-Chernin’s Zoom and Zip for strings is a slightly unusual exploration of off-beat rhythms to accompany expressive Slavonic melodies remembered by the composer as a child in Russia. Maier-Röntgen’s fascinating Violin Concerto features TBSO Assistant Concertmaster Kathlyn Stevens.
