Education Programs

YOU Dance

YOU dance and the Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra offer educational, interactive performances for elementary students.  Apprentice dancers from the National Ballet of Canada will join the TBSO, conducted by Resident Conductor Daniel Bartholomew-Poyser, for four live performances at the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium.

TBSOpened

The TBSOpened program allows students and other visitors to experience an open dress rehearsal, observing how a first-class orchestra puts together a first-class concert.

MIC – Musicians in the Classroom

Designed to bring the concert hall to your school, the Musicians in the Classroom project brings the TBSO right to your school! Les presentations se feront aussi en français.

CIC – Conductor in the Classroom

What does a conductor do? How does an orchestra behind the scenes? These questions and more are answered when one of the TBSO’s very own conductors visits your classroom. Les presentations se feront aussi en français.

TBSO Youth Ambassadors

The TBSO Youth Ambassadors are a group of students, hand-picked by their schools, to represent their school as part of a Student Board that advises the TBSO on its student educational initiatives and helps us stay in touch with the needs of today’s youth at a grassroots level.

Mini-Masterworks

Each year the TBSO performs musical masterworks that are available, through transcription, for performance by your band.

TBSO Wind Symphony

The teachers of Thunder Bay send their most musically motivated wind students to a one day musical intensive designed to give Thunder Bay’s collective wind players an opportunity to shine. This program will be offered beginning in the 2012-2013 concert season.
