21 February 2022 - 3:30 pm Digital Stream

Program

It’s story time with Glen Paterson and some of the TBSO’s talented wind and brass players! Gather the whole family for this special afternoon concert!

Luciano Berio: Opus Number Zoo

Darius Milhaud: La cheminée du roi René , Op. 205

Featuring

Glen Paterson, narrator; Penny Clarke, flute; Colleen Kennedy, oboe; E-Chen Hsu, clarinet; Damian Rivers-Moore, horn; Dan Preun, bassoon

Berio’s Opus Number Zoo is an exciting work showcasing performers as both musicians and narrator. Children will hear the story of 5 different animals, a fox, chicken, fawn, grey mouse, and tomcats as they grow to understand their place in the world and how to get along with one another.
During Milhaud’s La cheminée du roi René, you’ll hear (and see!) a day in the life of King René as he tramps about his court during medieval times. He encounters jugglers, a jousting match, and even goes hunting! The TBSO is happy to be joined by Glen Paterson as narrator.
