About the TBSO

The Thunder Bay Symphony Orchestra is the only professional orchestra in Northwestern Ontario.   The TBSO celebrates its 51st anniversary during the 2011-2012 season.  The Orchestra currently includes 30 full-time musicians , performing a wide-ranging repertoire from the great classical masterworks to pops and children’s concerts. The TBSO strives to be the best regional orchestra in Canada, appealing to as wide and diverse an audience as possible through excellent performances and original programming.

To maintain and nurture, within a viable framework, a professional regional orchestra of artistic integrity and excellence that will enrich and encourage the participation of the widest possible audience.

Our Artistic Vision

To strive to be the best regional orchestra in Canada appealing to as wide and diverse an audience as possible through excellent performances and original programming. With an appreciation of the rich traditional heritage of symphonic music, the TBSO will advance its unique orchestral identity through imaginative programming of Canadian artists and compositions while also offering live symphonic performances that are relevant and attractive to the diverse population of Thunder Bay and Northwestern Ontario.
